Development
Building a new community
An outline planning permission was approved in April 2018 by Suffolk Coastal District Council for a sustainable, 2,000-home
community in Martlesham. Taylor Wimpey purchased the site in 2021 and will bring forward this new community in phases.
We are building a new community at Brightwell Lakes so people who live locally can stay in the area they love, with homes to suit every part of life, whether that’s buying a first home, starting a family, or downsizing. Brightwell Lakes is for everyone.

Phasing
The development will be phased over a period of approximately 17 years with
individual phases coming forward at a time. Each of these phases will be
subject to individual reserved matters applications. These applications will
provide the detail required to discharge the conditions attached to the outline
application.
The first two phases have been approved by East Suffolk District Council with the first homes set to be ready by February 2024.
